Having always had problematic skin, Vikki, aged 32, prided herself on being able to manage it with a good skincare regime.
Her confidence took a real blow in spring 2020 however, when she found that, despite her best efforts, nothing she could do was helping. She was horrified to learn that she had rosacea – a condition she knew nothing about but looking online, learned that it was not something that was going to clear up.
The constant background redness and stinging pain were really distressing and if anything triggered a flush, her sensitive skin reacted badly, and could stay red for hours.
She went in search of professional help, firstly to her GP and then to a private dermatology clinic. She was dismayed at the attitude and lack of interest shown by the “experts” she approached. The rushed appointment and lack of explanation provided by the dermatology clinic when she was given products to take home, again left her Googling in order to try and understand what to do.
“It was such a relief to come to Temple – from my very first communication with the clinic to meeting Dr Sam and Cherelle, I felt listened to. Even though I initially doubted whether they could really help, it was just lovely to feel that somebody cared enough to take the time to explain things properly.”
