LimeLight IPL

Restoring Clarity, Brightness and Even Skin Tone

Healthy skin is not simply smooth skin.

The colour of the skin plays a major role in how healthy, vibrant and youthful it appears. Pigmentation, sun damage, age spots and redness can all make skin appear older and less even, regardless of how good the skin quality itself may be.

LimeLight IPL is designed to address these colour changes.

Using carefully controlled pulses of light energy, LimeLight IPL targets unwanted pigment and superficial blood vessels within the skin, helping to restore a clearer, brighter and more even complexion.

It is one of our most effective treatments for sun damage, age spots, redness and uneven skin tone.

What Can LimeLight IPL Help Treat?

LimeLight IPL may be suitable for patients concerned about:

  • Sun damage
  • Age spots
  • Freckles
  • Uneven pigmentation
  • Facial redness
  • Rosacea-related redness
  • Flushing
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Diffuse skin discolouration

Many of these concerns develop gradually over years of sun exposure and can be difficult to improve with skincare products alone.

How Does LimeLight IPL Work?

IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light.

The treatment delivers carefully controlled pulses of light energy into the skin.

This energy is selectively absorbed by unwanted pigment and superficial blood vessels.

The targeted pigment or vessel is then gradually broken down and cleared by the body's natural healing processes, helping restore a clearer and more even skin tone.

Because the treatment specifically targets colour within the skin, LimeLight IPL is particularly effective for concerns such as sun damage, pigmentation and redness.

FAQs

Why Does Pigmentation Develop?

Pigmentation can develop for many reasons, including:

  • Sun exposure
  • Ageing
  • Genetics
  • Hormonal influences
  • Previous inflammation or skin injury

Whilst skincare can help support skin health, established pigmentation often requires targeted treatment to achieve meaningful improvement.

Why Does Pigment Go Dark Before It Gets Better?

One of the most common questions patients ask after IPL treatment is:

"Why have my age spots become darker?"

This is actually an expected part of the treatment process.

Following treatment, pigmented areas often darken temporarily before gradually rising towards the surface of the skin and naturally flaking away.

This process usually takes between one and two weeks and is often one of the signs that treatment is working.

As the excess pigment clears, the skin appears brighter and more even.

What About Redness?

Whilst pigmentation is one of the most common reasons patients choose IPL, LimeLight IPL can also be highly effective for certain forms of redness and superficial vascular change.

This includes:

  • Facial redness
  • Flushing
  • Rosacea-related redness
  • Small superficial blood vessels

During your consultation, we will assess whether IPL, Laser Genesis or a combination approach is most appropriate for your concerns.

LimeLight IPL, Laser Genesis or the 2D Facial?

Many patients are unsure which treatment is best suited to their skin concerns.

In simple terms:

LimeLight IPL focuses on colour.

It targets pigmentation, sun damage, age spots, redness and uneven skin tone.

Laser Genesis focuses on quality.

It helps improve skin texture, pore size, collagen production and overall skin health.

The 2D Facial combines both approaches.

By combining LimeLight IPL with Laser Genesis, the 2D Facial addresses both colour and quality within a single treatment.

During your consultation, we will help determine which approach is most appropriate for your skin.

What Does Treatment Feel Like?

Most patients describe IPL as feeling like a brief warm flick against the skin.

Treatment is generally well tolerated and sessions are relatively quick.

The sensation lasts only a fraction of a second and most patients find the treatment comfortable.

Is There Any Downtime?

Downtime is usually minimal.

Following treatment you may experience:

  • Mild redness
  • A sensation of warmth
  • Temporary darkening of pigmented lesions

Most patients return to normal activities immediately.

Sun protection remains particularly important following treatment and your practitioner will advise you on the most appropriate skincare routine.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

Some patients notice significant improvement after a single treatment.

However, most patients achieve the best results with a course of treatments.

The number of sessions required depends on:

  • The degree of pigmentation
  • The amount of sun damage present
  • The severity of redness
  • Individual treatment goals

A personalised treatment plan will be discussed during your consultation.

Will The Pigmentation Come Back?

The pigmentation successfully treated by IPL will often improve significantly or disappear.

However, treatment cannot stop the skin developing new pigmentation in the future.

Factors such as ongoing sun exposure, ageing, hormonal influences and genetics may contribute to the development of new pigmentation over time.

Daily sun protection is one of the most important steps you can take to help maintain your results.

Some patients choose occasional maintenance treatments to help keep their skin looking clear and even.

Who Is LimeLight IPL Suitable For?

LimeLight IPL is generally most suitable for lighter skin types and patients concerned about pigmentation, sun damage or redness.

It may be particularly appropriate if you:

  • Have age spots or sun damage
  • Want a brighter, more even complexion
  • Are concerned about facial redness
  • Have uneven skin tone
  • Want meaningful improvement with minimal downtime

A consultation will help determine whether IPL is the most appropriate treatment for your skin type and concerns.

Why Choose Temple Clinic?

At Temple Clinic, we do not believe in treating skin concerns in isolation.

Pigmentation, redness, collagen loss and changes in skin texture often occur together, which is why treatment selection is so important.

Rather than simply recommending a device, we take time to understand your skin concerns, treatment goals and the factors that may have contributed to the problem.

LimeLight IPL forms part of our wider approach to skin health, helping restore a clearer, brighter and more even complexion whilst supporting long-term skin confidence.

Our goal is not simply to remove unwanted pigmentation, but to help patients achieve healthier, more resilient and naturally radiant skin.
