Pigmentation Treatment in Aberdeen The Fade™ & The Fade Elite™ by Temple Clinic

Pigmentation Treatment in Aberdeen

Pigmentation can be stubborn.

Sun spots, freckles and areas of uneven pigmentation may improve with treatment, only to gradually return. The reason is simple: pigmentation is rarely just a pigment problem.

At Temple Clinic in Aberdeen, we take a skin-first approach.

We developed The Fade™ and The Fade Elite™ to treat visible pigmentation while also addressing some of the factors that can encourage it to persist or recur — including inflammation, oxidative stress, UV exposure, skin injury and abnormal pigment activity.

The aim isn’t simply to make brown marks disappear.

We want to create healthier, calmer and more resilient skin — and achieve a brighter, more even complexion that is easier to maintain.

Our Bespoke Treatments

The Fade™

A clinically led approach to pigmentation

The Fade™ is Temple Clinic’s signature pigmentation management programme, developed for people wanting to improve pigmentation, uneven skin tone and overall skin quality.

It combines targeted homecare with a carefully staged programme of professional skin treatments, medical-grade LED phototherapy and Laser Genesis.

Rather than using increasingly aggressive treatments according to a predetermined schedule, we assess your skin throughout the programme.

Treatment is progressed according to how your skin is actually responding.

Your skin determines the pace of treatment — not the calendar.

What are we trying to achieve?

The Fade is designed to:

  • reduce visible pigmentation
  • create a brighter, more even complexion
  • reduce inflammation
  • support healthy skin-barrier function
  • encourage more stable pigment behaviour
  • stimulate collagen
  • improve skin quality and resilience
  • reduce the risk of recurrent pigmentation

Homecare is part of the treatment

Successful pigmentation treatment doesn’t happen only when you are in the clinic.

Your homecare programme is designed to support the skin every day by targeting factors involved in pigmentation, including oxidative stress, inflammation, skin turnover, pigment production and UV exposure.

We therefore normally prepare the skin for a minimum of four weeks before beginning the clinical phase of The Fade.

This isn’t simply skincare added to your treatment programme.

It is part of your treatment programme.

What does The Fade involve?

The Fade consists of six staged clinic treatments incorporating Laser Genesis alongside three more intensive skin-recovery treatments.

These combine carefully selected professional skin treatments, LED phototherapy and Laser Genesis to progressively improve pigmentation while supporting skin recovery.

We deliberately don’t follow a fixed escalation protocol.

At every stage we consider pigmentation, inflammation, sensitivity, barrier health and how your skin recovered from its previous treatment before deciding what it needs next.

The Fade™ programme: £1,395

Recommended homecare is purchased separately and tailored following consultation.

The Fade Elite™

When visible pigmentation needs more intensive correction

The Fade Elite™ takes the same skin-first philosophy and adds IPL for more intensive correction of visible pigmentation and superficial vascular change in suitable Fitzpatrick I–III skin types.

IPL can be particularly effective for visible sun damage, freckles, lentigines, diffuse pigmentation and some superficial vascular lesions.

But IPL still addresses only part of the problem.

Our objective is to improve the environment of the skin around the pigmentation as well as treating the pigmentation itself.

The Fade Elite therefore alternates skin-recovery treatments with our 2D Facial combining LimeLight IPL and Laser Genesis.

This allows us to progressively correct visible pigmentation while continuing to calm, rehabilitate and strengthen the skin.

The Fade Elite™ programme: £1,695

Recommended homecare is purchased separately and tailored following consultation.

The Fade™ or The Fade Elite™?

You don’t need to decide which programme you need before coming to see us.

That’s our job.

The Fade™ may be appropriate when our priority is improving pigmentation through progressive skin rehabilitation, inflammation control, pigment regulation and Laser Genesis.

The Fade Elite™ adds IPL and may be recommended for suitable lighter skin types where more direct treatment of visible sun-related pigmentation or associated vascular change would be beneficial.

Your recommendation will depend on:

  • the type and pattern of pigmentation
  • your skin type
  • background redness and inflammation
  • skin sensitivity and barrier health
  • previous treatments
  • sun exposure
  • how your skin responds to treatment

And importantly, not everything that looks like pigmentation should be treated cosmetically.

Clinical assessment comes first.

What pigmentation can we treat?

Depending on the underlying cause and your suitability for treatment, The Fade programmes may help improve:

  • sun damage
  • sun spots and age spots
  • freckles
  • lentigines
  • diffuse pigmentation
  • uneven skin tone
  • some post-inflammatory pigmentation
  • dull or uneven complexion
  • associated redness and superficial vascular change

Different types of pigmentation behave differently, which is why we assess your skin before recommending treatment.

FAQs

Can pigmentation be treated without IPL?

Yes.

The Fade™ was specifically developed to provide a comprehensive pigmentation-management approach without relying on IPL.

Whether that is the appropriate approach for your pigmentation is determined at consultation.

Will my pigmentation disappear permanently?

We don’t promise that it will.

Pigmentation is influenced by your biology, UV exposure, inflammation and other ongoing environmental factors. Even pigmentation that responds extremely well to treatment can recur.

Our aim is therefore not simply short-term clearance.

We want to achieve the best improvement we reasonably can while helping your skin remain healthier and your pigmentation more stable over the longer term.

Appropriate skincare, daily sun protection and occasional maintenance treatments may therefore remain important after your programme has finished.

What is the best treatment for pigmentation?

There isn’t one treatment that is best for every type of pigmentation.

Treatment depends on what is causing the pigmentation, your skin type, how reactive your skin is and whether inflammation, sun damage or vascular change is also present.

For some people, a skin-rehabilitation approach using homecare, professional skin treatments and Laser Genesis is appropriate. For others, IPL can provide additional correction of visible pigmentation.

The important first step is establishing what we are treating.

Why does pigmentation return after treatment?

Treatments can remove or reduce visible pigment without eliminating the biological and environmental factors that stimulate melanocytes to produce pigment.

UV exposure, inflammation, skin injury and oxidative stress can all contribute to recurrence.

This is why long-term pigment management includes skin health, appropriate homecare and sun protection as well as clinic treatments.

Can Laser Genesis help pigmentation?

Laser Genesis isn’t primarily a pigment-removal laser.

We use it because it can improve dermal quality, stimulate collagen and help reduce inflammation and vascular instability — all valuable when our objective is healthier, more resilient skin alongside improved pigmentation.

Does IPL treat pigmentation?

Yes. IPL can be very effective for certain types of superficial pigmentation, including sun-related pigmentation, freckles and lentigines.

It isn’t appropriate for every pigmentation problem or every skin type, which is why IPL is used selectively within The Fade Elite rather than automatically for every patient.

How long does The Fade take?

The Fade is a staged six-treatment programme. The exact timing of treatment is influenced by how your skin responds and recovers.

The Fade Elite alternates six treatments over approximately three months.

Skin preparation begins before the first clinical treatment and appropriate homecare continues throughout the programme.

Start with a pigmentation consultation

If pigmentation, sun damage or an increasingly uneven complexion is bothering you, the first step isn’t choosing a laser or peel.

It is understanding your skin.

At Temple Clinic in Aberdeen, we’ll assess your pigmentation, skin health and treatment history before recommending the approach we believe is most appropriate for you.

That may be The Fade™, The Fade Elite™ or something different.
