Aside from the physical disfigurement, many people do not realise how painful this condition can be, “Sometimes my face was so sore and swollen that it was agony to move my mouth – there were days when I could not even speak let alone keep a conversation going. This upset my parents and distanced my friends because they all knew me as someone who never stops talking!”

The impact on Kirsty’s confidence was devastating and began to interfere with her school work, “standing up in front of my classes and having to deliver a presentation filled me with dread – were they all just looking at my horrible skin?” Kirsty’s self esteem was rock bottom and she began to feel that she was being punished, “I hated people commenting about my skin – it felt that they were criticising me for not trying harder to make it better and I was sure that everyone thought I was just doing everything wrong”

The Treatment

From the very start of her treatment at Temple Clinic, Kirsty’s skin has continued to improve. Temple provided her with skincare products and recommended a course of Omnilux light therapy. Within a couple of weeks there was an obvious difference.

“Every day I notice a difference in my skin from the day before and it amazes me. Looking back at the photos that Temple Clinic took at my first appointment still shocks me and my family. Since coming to Temple, Kirsty reports feeling a lot more confident and back to the way that she used to be. “I don’t feel like I need to hide away because I’m scared of what people will think of me if they see my skin. I’m not embarrassed anymore in fact I’m probably the most confident that I’ve been in years if not forever– I actually can’t believe how much my skin improving has affected my happiness.”
